Upcoming
Food for Thought
"For I was hungry and you gave me food..." Matt. 25:35 Sunday, July
6, is our next collection for Food for Thought. It's all over the media how food and gasoline prices are having an impact on our budgets. It's really hitting those who were already struggling to put food on their tables. The request for food is increasing everywhere. Please help stock the food pantry shelves at St. Paul's Methodist Church in July by bringing these food items that will be in even more demand due to school being out during the summer: peanut butter, jelly, macaroni and cheese, canned pasta and meat, soup, crackers, cereal, shelf milk, food bars, canned meat, spaghetti pasta, spaghetti sauce, canned fruit, and pudding. Thank you for sharing the love of Christ with those who need our
help.
Summer Adventure
July 21 - 25. Bring a friend and be part of a week-long beach party where you’ll become surfers riding the wave of God’s
love. While surfin’ for fun, you’ll learn the beach Be-Attitudes:
Day 1: Be Obedient!
Day 2: Be Kind!
Day 3: Be Forgiving!
Day 4: Be Bold!
Day 5: Believe!
Registration forms are located inside of our Beach Party newsletter located throughout the church. Register outside the preschool hall (Asbury wing) on Sunday mornings, mail in your forms, or drop them off at the front office.
Registration closes on July 13 and we cannot guarantee your t-shirt size unless you order before
June 30. Life guards and other crew positions are still needed—adults can call Jan or Audrey at 883-3200 to sign
up.

Reservations are needed for all dinners and classes for this summer and throughout the year. For your convenience, you may register for the evenings of your Wednesday night classes
– or you can go ahead and register for the whole year. Contact Barbara McClure in the church office
or call 883-3200 ext 228. Chef Phil has delicious dinners ready for summer and we’ve got great classes for
everyone:
§ Yoga For Everyone
Led by Jon Lolley, Registered Yoga Teacher. A regular instructor at Trinity and throughout the Huntsville community, Jon’s next yoga class series will be
Wednesday nights, June 4 thru July 23 at 6:00 p.m. in The New Room lobby. Yoga increases functional strength, flexibility and balance with this mind-body discipline. Each session offers a variety of simple and challenging poses that benefit beginners and experienced practitioners alike. For these eight sessions the fee is $75 (approx. $9 a session).
§ Teach Us To Pray: The Lord’s Prayer
Led by Lowell Zoller. The ever-popular Trinity teacher Lowell Zoller is leading his next Wednesday night class on July 9 & 16 at 6:30 p.m. in Room 191. Noting that John the Baptist had taught his disciples how to pray, a disciple asked Jesus to teach them to pray. Jesus’ response was the “Lord’s Prayer.” Is there one way to pray? Is one prayer sufficient? Is the prayer used in worship services the one that Jesus gave to his disciples? What does the Lord’s Prayer really say? Don’t miss this informative and intriguing presentation and discussion.
§ Healthy Shrubs & Trees
Led by Ken Creel, Madison County Extension Office. Ken will cover how to effectively plant and prune your shrubs and bushes, and problems associated with insects and more. Join us
July 16 at 6:30 p.m. in Room 265 for this presentation.
§ Pastoral Epistles: Timothy 1 & 2 and Titus
Led by Rev. Charles Gattis. Trinity’s Senior Pastor Dr. Charles Gattis will discuss these letters that were written to individuals rather than groups -- letters that provide insight from one seasoned leader to a new leader on how to effectively guide the spiritual lives of a community of faith. Join Rev. Gattis in Room
269 on July 23 & 30 and Aug. 6 & 13 for this enriching study.

Trinity Financial Tips
- Preparing a will means good stewardship. If you neglect writing a
will, the state will distribute your property at your death by a
"will" that is has created for you.
- With no will there is no way to protect your children's interests in their share of your estate if your spouse remarries.
- With no will, there is no way to guarantee the assets you have
accumulated throughout your life will be distributed faithfully.
- A memorial gift can be a satisfying way to salute those whose memories continue to enrich our lives. Memorials to Trinity's
ministries budget help our church carry out ministries locally, nationally
and internationally. Call 883-3200, ext. 206 for more information.
- An honorarium is a special gift given in honor of or thanksgiving for a special person. This is a wonderful way to honor a fellow church member, a pastor, or a family member. Honorariums to the Ministries Fund help support all of the many ministries of Trinity Church.
- Give appreciated securities. Many people consider this the equivalent of a double deduction. You get the gifting deduction and avoid paying capital gains tax on the stock sale because the sale is done in the church name.
- Your stockbroker or banker can easily transfer securities from your personal account to TUMC. If you’d like to give a securities gift, call Jill Gardner in the Church Office, 883-3200, ext. 209.
- The most common method of gifting is cash. But did you know stocks, bonds and mutual funds may be gifted to your church as well?
- As you update your estate plan, we encourage you to consider the tithe in your will or other trust document.
- For those who want their life insurance proceeds paid to their family, name a church or charity as the contingent beneficiary.
- Have you considered fulfilling your tithe by auto draft? Call Judy Holcomb in the church office at 883-3200, ext. 293.
- Please visit our "Faith in Finances" page for
more information.
