In many games, there are unexpected opportunities that appear. In video games, it may be a hidden level. In sports, it may be the chance to play professionally or on an all-star team. In the path of faith, Peter’s ministry shows us that God is always opening the door of faith to others, often leading us into unexpected relationships in unexpected places.
This Sunday at 9am Traditional & 11am Cross Connect, we conclude our sermon series, “Twists & Turns,” with Acts 11:1-18 (CEB). We will hear Peter’s experience of sharing the Gospel with Gentiles, which was initially met with skepticism by some Jewish believers. Peter explains how he receives a vision from God, showing that all people, regardless of their background, are accepted by Him. He then shares the Good News of Jesus Christ with Cornelius, a Roman centurion, and his household, witnessing the Holy Spirit descend upon them to confirm God's acceptance of the Gentiles.
As followers of Christ, we are called to value, respect, and love every individual, recognizing that they are created in the image of God. By doing so, we can foster a sense of community and understanding, regardless of differences. In the games we love and play, this principle becomes evident and transcends boundaries that might otherwise divide us.
A great reminder of our call to value, respect, and love all people can be found in I John 4:7-12 (CEB). We truly reach “new levels” on our spiritual journey when we demonstrate the transformative power of God’s love by deepening our relationship with others.
Do me a favor, call someone and invite them to worship with you this Sunday!
