Sunday, the traditional services start a new sermon series: When I grow up, I want to…
…what? Did you once have a dream or hope or expectation that, by now, your life would be different? I’m guessing that growing up may have been a lot harder than you expected. For instance, at one time you may have thought that adulthood was all about freedom and no tests and having money and getting chocolate whenever you wanted it. But then you got a job and responsibilities and an older body. And all those previous fantasies melted away.
Maybe you thought that YOU would be different by now — that you would finally be able to figure things out and conquer your fears and, you know, be… an adult. Well, how is that going?
In worship, we will examine that which is blocking our development and how God can unleash us for growth. This Sunday we deal with handling our anger (see our scriptures: Ephesians 4:25-32 and Mark 3:1-6 , when even Jesus gets angry). In future weeks we find out how we can grow up to be wiser, stronger, and like Jesus.
(By the way, the contemporary service celebrates Discovery youth retreat this Sunday, and then August 15, they begin a different series.)
Worship Sunday can make a difference in your life and I’m excited about the possibilities. Mac will be sharing in the traditional service at 9:00 am. Both it and the contemporary service at 11:00 will be shared in-person, live-streamed, or recorded for later. We would love to get your comments or questions before or after the service. And please come prepared to wear a mask . Thank you!
