Food for Thought Collection Sunday | In Person & Drive Thru | October 3

Susan Hively • September 24, 2021

Sunday, October 3 is our next FFT collection. This collection will go to Share House and Safe Harbor.  They are in need of the following:

Cereal
Oatmeal
Pancake mix
Syrup
Grits
Canned Meat
Canned Spaghetti Sauce (No glass jars)
Spaghetti Pasta
Velveeta Cheese
Rice
Instant potatoes
Small bags of flour, corn meal, sugar
Kool Aid
Juice, tea, coffee
Napkins, paper towels and toilet paper

(Always remember these are needed items but all contributions are greatly appreciated.)

Your donations always bring a smile to the faces of the families who are in need. A few special treats, too, go a long way in helping them feel normal ... especially the children. Sometimes the recipients will donate to the pantries after they get back on their feet. Your generosity gives blessings to many; thank you for your continued support and obedience to Jesus’ instructions on how to treat our neighbors.

If you aren’t sure of how to participate in FFT, just remember those less fortunate each time you shop at the grocery store, and purchase a non-perishable food item to collect in a bag at your home. The first Sunday of the month bring your bag to church and place it in one of the FFT bins located throughout the church. You should find one in the narthex, The New Room lobby, the Wesley Hall entrance, and the hallway under the sanctuary. There will also be a drive-through collection on the first Sunday of the month from 1 to 3 pm at the blue awning. Monetary donations are also welcome. Just write your check to TUMC and put FFT on the memo line.

For those of you who like to shop early, the November 7 collection will be our Thanksgiving collection and will go to Carolyn’s Cupboard at Saint Paul UMC’s pantry. They will need:

Cereal
Canned meat
Soup
Crackers
Cookies
Canned corn
Mayo, mustard, ketchup
Canned spaghetti sauce and pasta
Thanksgiving items such as stuffing mix, cranberry sauce, canned sweet potatoes, etc.
Leftover Halloween candy is always fun, too

Thank you again for continuing to obey Christ's command to love our neighbor as ourselves.
