Dear Trinity Family & Friends:
I am really excited to kick-off this new year with our new sermon series, "Think on These Things" based on the book of Philippians. If you take the opportunity to read the entirety of Philippians in one sitting, you will notice how frequently Paul encourages the reader to Rejoice! Be Glad! What is truly amazing is that Paul offers this repeated encouragement from the hardship of imprisonment. How is Paul able to do this?
This Sunday's scriptures, Philippians 1:9-12 and Hebrews 12:1-2, suggest that the answer has everything to do with OUR FOCUS. If you are anything like me, my natural tendency is to focus on the problem, the lack, the struggle, the anxiety. Instead, both Philippians and Hebrews encourage us to keep our eyes fixed on the love, knowledge, and example of Jesus Christ. In doing so, we are transformed and able to discern "what really matters" in life. Furthermore, our hearts are inspired to give God glory and praise and liberated to experience deep and lasting joy, despite our circumstances.
As we prepare for Sunday, let's consider a few questions together:
I can’t wait to worship with you at either 9 am Traditional (Sanctuary) or 10:30 am Cross Connect Contemporary (The New Room). Plus, we're having a big party in both lobbies from 10:00-10:30, so let's share coffee & fellowship together as we start this new year!
Blessings,
Pastor Carrie
