Trinity Family & Friends!
As we continue in our sermon series on “What We Value,” we will discuss the fact that at Trinity, “We Value Rest.” In the hustle and bustle of our fast-paced lives, taking a moment to breathe, reflect, and find peace becomes not just a luxury but a profound necessity.
Scripture is not silent on the importance of rest. In Psalm 23 (CEB), we’re reminded of the Shepherd’s gentle guidance, leading us beside still waters and restoring our souls. The Psalm doesn't merely present rest as an occasional need but rather an integral part of our relationship with God. Through the valleys and mountains of life, the promise of rest and renewal is a constant echo. Meanwhile, in Matthew 11:25-30 (CEB), Jesus invites all those who are weary and burdened to come to Him for rest. This is not just physical rest but a deep, soulful rest that rejuvenates our very being. Through this scripture, we are reminded of the divine invitation to lay down our burdens, worries, and anxieties and find peace in Him.
As we prepare our hearts and minds for this week’s service, let’s consider our relationship with rest. Are we weary? Are we burdened? The promise of rest is not just a distant ideal but a present reality that we should deeply cherish and faithfully practice.
Blessings,
Pastor Dedric
