Ephesians 4:1-7, 1 John 4:7-12 (CEB)

Dear Trinity Family & Friends:

In 1956, a group of faithful Christians felt the need to form a church in the rapidly growing South Huntsville area. 68 years later, Trinity United Methodist Church is a vibrant community of faith called to serve this present age. In our journey of faith, there are moments when we are called to go further, to delve deeper into the purpose that God has laid out for us. It’s in these moments that we truly begin to understand the magnitude of our calling as individuals and as a faith community.

Expounding on Trinity’s 50th Anniversary Book, We Are Called, our sermon this week will be entitled: “We Are Called Further.” We will focus on Ephesians 4:1-7 (CEB), in which the Apostle Paul begins by urging us to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which we have been called. What does this mean for us? It means living lives that reflect the love and grace that God has bestowed upon us. It means embodying the radical love of Christ in all that we do, from the way we interact with one another to the way we engage with the world around us.

Here are a few questions for reflection:

  1. How has your understanding of loving others as Jesus loves us challenged or changed the way you interact with our church community and beyond?
  2. In what ways can you more fully live out the calling to which you have been called, as described in Ephesians 4:1-7? Reflect on the aspects of unity, peace, and humility.
  3. As we look forward to the future of Trinity United Methodist Church, what specific actions or commitments are you inspired to take to help our community to grow in faith and love?

I invite each of us to reflect on our collective mission as a church and to recommit ourselves to our vision: “To be a Christian community inviting all to gather in love, grow in faith, and give back in joyful service.” At the heart of this vision lies a profound truth: each of us is called for a purpose. As we reflect on our call, let us move forward in faith. For we are called for such a time as this, entrusted with the sacred task of advancing God’s kingdom here on earth.

Can’t wait to see you Sunday!

Pastor Dedric
