Trinity Family & Friends:
I hope you are enjoying our sermon series on Twists and Turns as much as I have these last few weeks. There is something extraordinary about the Apostle Peter’s story that not only inspires me, but it also challenges me to be a better disciple of Jesus.
As you know, we have been using the analogy of games and sports as a lens to examine the Gospel message. When we play games and sports, loss is always an option. How do we respond after a loss? Like Peter, we all have moments in our faith journey when we fail and fail hard. Thankfully, Jesus doesn't leave us in our failures. Through repentance, forgiveness, and transformation, God empowers our losses to strengthen us for growth and future success.
This Sunday at 9 am Traditional & 11 am Cross Connect, we will explore the story of Peter’s denial of Jesus as recorded in John 13:31-38 (CEB). This story is not just about Peter’s failure, it’s about the incredible grace and love that Jesus extended to him. Peter’s restoration in John 21:15-19 reminds us that no matter how far we may have fallen or how terrible our mistakes, Jesus is always ready to restore us. It also teaches us the importance of repentance. You see, even in his guilt and shame, Peter turned to Jesus to confess his shortcomings and acknowledge that he was ready to grow from his mistakes.
As we worship together this week, I hope we experience the power of God’s love offered to us through Jesus Christ in a new and profound way.
See you Sunday!
