7.7.24 WHO WE ARE: “By Grace” – Our Theological Framework

Rev. Dr. Dedric Cowser • July 1, 2024

Luke 15:11-24, Ephesians 2:8-10

Dear Trinity Family & Friends:

I look forward to beginning our sermon series entitled “Who We Are.” Over the coming weeks, we will explore the beliefs, actions, and purposes that define us as United Methodists. Our journey begins with a fundamental aspect of our faith: grace. We will examine the Parable of the Prodigal Son from Luke 15:11-24 (CEB) to illustrate the three-fold nature of grace: prevenient, justifying, and sanctifying. Additionally, we will reflect on Ephesians 2:8-10 (CEB), which describes the essence of salvation as God’s work in us and for us.

As we prepare for this week’s sermon, I invite you to reflect on the following questions:

  1. How have you experienced grace in your own life? Can you recall moments when you felt God’s presence even before you fully understood or accepted it?
  2. How has the experience of forgiveness and reconciliation impacted your relationship with God and others?
  3. What practices or habits help you grow in holiness and live out your faith more fully?

I am excited to explore the meaning of grace with you and deepen our understanding of who we are. Join us for worship this Sunday at 9 am Traditional or 10:30 am Contemporary. I look forward to seeing you there.

Blessings,

Pastor Dedric
